BANDAR SUNWAY, 16 April - Sunway Rymba Hills has recently taken home two highest awards at the Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA) presented by Institute of Landscape Architect Malaysia (ILAM), namely Project of the Year 2014 and MLAA Excellence Award under the Developer Category.

Ong Ghee Bin, Executive Director of Property Development Division, Central Region, Malaysia received both the Project of the Year 2014 Award and MLAA Excellence Award from YB. Datuk Halimah binti Mohd Sadique, Deputy Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government and Associate Professor LAr Dr Osman Mohd Tahir, president of ILAM council members 2014-2016.

Built on the concept of green development, Sunway Rymba Hills is a gated and guarded low density residential development comprising 80 units of three-storey forest villas which are fashioned after luxury resorts and comes in four different designs. The development stretches up to 19.72 acres of the distinguished township of Sunway Damansara.

Sunway Rymba Hills is the only residential development in Petaling Jaya with an exclusive 6.5 acre private forest park and private clubhouse facilities. Sixty percent of the development is dedicated to greenery, where each villa enjoys a magnificent view of the extensive foliage or the interspersed themed gardens. The zero-lot concept makes Sunway Rymba Hills’ most outstanding feature, as it maximized the width of up to 15 feet of private green spaces at each individual unit, allowing natural lighting and ventilation into the unit, while ensuring the residents enjoy ample privacy and serenity.

“We are honoured and grateful with the recognition. This win goes to the dedicated team who were relentlessly working on the project. We also appreciate the support from our communities, who have inspired and supported us through the years in our green efforts,” said Ong, upon receiving the awards.

Ong also expressed a hint of the company’s future plan.“As we thrive to guarantee a lifelong commitment in being the Master Community Developer that grows together with our communities, we wish to build a landscape environment with self-sustainability. We also certainly hope that the success of this project will inspire other developers to create similar developments, as it has inspired us to go even further thinking about sustainability and its role in developing our future generations,” he said.

The property developer category Excellence Award was judged based on a total of three criteria, which include the uniqueness of development idea in the context of landscape and environment, the recognition of landscape values and functions regarding environmental sensitivity, affordances to users, culture and community, and the recognition of landscape architecture works. Whereas, the Project of the Year award was selected among the Excellence Award and Construction Award candidates by the members of the jury and the ILAM Council.

MLAA 2014 is organised by the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia and International Federation of Landscape Architects in conjunction with the World Landscape Architecture Month. Started from year 2007, the award has reached six full categories with 106 submissions consisting of Malaysia projects and international projects from Singapore, PR China and Hong Kong this year.

Since the completion, Sunway Rymba Hills has received multiple awards with its excellent development features. The awards include winner of FIABCI Malaysia Property Award 2014 in the Residential (Low Rise) category and honorary mention in the PAM Green Excellence category of The Edge’s Top Property Developer’s Award.
